Where Magic Lens Came From
Every good product has an origin story. The problems came first.
PulseDNA's startup never began as a "solution in search of a problem." The problems came first — and our founder Stephanie was living them.
In early 2025, our team began collaborating on two SBIR research projects with the U.S. Department of Energy. Those projects exposed us to the realities of modern critical infrastructure: enormous volumes of data, strict regulatory environments, and systems where mistakes simply cannot happen.

Before working with government systems, Stephanie spent several years attempting to build a NewsTech platform designed to improve credibility and trust in journalism. During user research with younger audiences, something surprising emerged — students wanted interactive information that behaved more like TikTok than a traditional news article, but with a much higher probability of truth.

Our founder joined a research group at MIT exploring hybrid machine learning systems for country risk forecasting — combining time-series economic data, global news signals, and trade data sentiment analysis. The prototype, called PulseATLAS, led to a guest talk invitation from MIT's Director of Data Science.
